The Jazz Explosion - hard bop from the 50's & 60's

  • Firehouse Arts and Events Center 1314 Harris Avenue Bellingham, WA, 98225 United States (map)

Drummer Jerry Steinhilber leads this high-octane sextet of rotating musicians culled from the PNW’s potent roster of dynamic jazz artists. With each performance, The Jazz Explosion explores the golden era of rapid evolution that defined the late 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. A period that pushed jazz forward into cool, post-bop, ands modal styles laying the groundwork that transformed jazz into a sophisticated, globally recognized art form. Steinhilber’s driving rhythm section of bassist King Dahl and percussionist Steve Jones — and featuring special guest percussionists Kevin Candela and John Butorac — will back the powerful tenor duo of Alexey Nikolaev and Josh Cook.
